Welcome to my first overlay mosaic crochet bag!
Obviously, I’m exploring more things to create with overlay mosaic crochet, I’m really enjoying it. You can do both patterns on either side or just use one of the patterns, it’s up to you.

I used a macrame yarn for my bag, I’ll admit it was difficult to work with, but the result is a solid bag that doesn’t need lining. You can use any yarn but if you have some cotton yarn in your stash it would work but I’d use a smaller hook, you’ll get the information for both patterns, pictures of how to start, information, a pattern for the strap/handle and constructing your bag.

What you’ll get;
Fully written pattern for both patterns.
Charts with X’s and grid lines every 10/10 squares.
Fully detailed explanation from start to finish plus lots of pictures!
Written pattern and chart of the handle.

I used Macrame yarn which was tricky to use but it’s a very strong bag so perfect!

For both sides YarnArt Macrame in Brown 157, for my detailed colour I used 313m, 3 skeins, for my background colour I used Sand 131, 358m, 3 skeins. So, for 1 side it was approximately 157m for the background and 179m for the detailed colour for 1 side.

With overlay mosaic crochet all single crochet stitches go into the back loop of the stitch and all double crochet stitches go into the front loop of the stitch 2 rows below which will be of the same colour. You cut the yarn at the end of every row and join new yarn at the start of every row, the ends can be left to create a fringe like I have.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY INCREDIBLE TESTERS! Christina O’Connor, Barbara Glueck, Clo Die, Mel Mitchel, Terry Parmentier. Claire Shipman, Edie Snyder.

    A Bit About Me!

    I love how creative you can be with mosaic overlay crochet, using only simple stitches.

    I dedicate all of my creativity and patterns to my Father who sadly left us Christmas 2021. He was a drummer in local bands in the 80s, one I particularly remember was “With the Flow” so this is why I have the word flow in some of my patterns.

    His name was Cliff, my Mum always jokingly said that that’s the only reason she married him was because she had a crush on Cliff Richard lol. He was also in groups called Kindred Spirit, Dark Legion and Take 3, maybe I’ll use some of those words too!

    Thank you for your interest and I hope you enjoy my designs!
